Collective sheet featuring 1 copy of sai-20230408-s-001 issued to celebrate WINTER GAMES AND LEISURE (JEUX ET LOISIRS D'HIVER). In the margin of the sheet we have the following description of hockey in St. Pierre

Quand la glace esi bien prise, les plus courageux dégagent la neige à la pelle et dès le premier rayon de loleil après la tempête on se retrouve en famille ou entre amis, patins aux pieds.

When the ice is well set, the bravest shovel out the snow and as soon as the first ray of sunshine after the storm we find ourselves with family or friends, skates on our feet.

St. Pierre and Miquelon (1885-1976, 1986-)
Stamp-issuing status: active; Population: 6,862 (1997 estimate). Two small islands off the southern coast of Newfoundland. Originally occupied by the French in 1604, they are the only remnants of a once-vast French North American empire. Separate stamps issued for St. Pierre and Miquelon were discontinued in late 1976, but were reintroduced in 1986.
